You may have already noticed that Malta’s private healthcare options are second-to-none. Dentistry and oral health is no exception. Read on for Mini Malta’s favourite four dental and oral healthcare specialists…
Smile
With clinics in Malta and Gozo, Smile is well-loved with the Mini Malta team for its friendly service, cutting-edge approach to treatment, and huge range of services on offer. In Malta, the clinic is based in the Da Vinci Hospital and so there really isn’t anything that it isn’t equipped to handle. The team at Smile are young and friendly, and there are experts in Cosmetic Dentistry, Implantology, Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. This is an excellent family practice which offers you fantastic care, no matter what your dental requirements.
Mark Diacono (at DIU)
Mark Diacono, the founder surgeon at the Dental and Implantology Unit at St James, is a man who comes very highly recommended. He has had an absolutely fascinating career journey, first qualifying as an intensive care nurse in the UK before training as a dentist and then specialising in Maxillofacial Surgery. His area of particular interest is advanced implant surgery and bone grafting procedures. He is an exceptional dental surgeon and is regularly called to lecture overseas. If your concerns are complex, there is no one better to see in Malta.
Mr Mario Said (at Da Vinci Health)
Not all mouth-related issues are dental and we thought it was worth mentioning our pick of ENT specialists in this round-up. For anything ear, nose or throat related, we would highly recommend Mr Mario Said who operates privately out of Da Vinci and St James (he is also the Chairman of the ENT Department at Mater Dei). He is extremely experienced and knowledgable, and also comfortingly sensible and understated. He is not likely to suggest a procedure unless it is absolutely necessary, but your family will be in very safe hands if he does recommend treatment or surgery. Highly recommended.
Dr Demajo Clinics
The Demajo Clinic in Ta’Xbiex has been helping Malta’s families look after their teeth for over one hundred years. Founded in 1919 by Pasquale Demajo, one of the first registered dentists in the Maltese Islands, the clinic is now run by the third and fourth generations of this family. Jean Paul Demajo is one of three clinic directors and comes highly recommended for his calm and friendly manner with nervous patients, and for his expertise in the area of implant dentistry. The clinic boasts its own laboratory and a wide range of cutting-edge technology. An excellent clinic offering generations of experience.
